STEEL WORKER
LOCATION:
Monaghan (Ireland), Bremerhaven (Germany), Rotterdam (Netherlands), Southampton (UK)
EMPLOYMENT:

Key responsibilities:
Steel Processing and Assembly:
Cutting, shaping and assembly of steel structures, beams, frames and supports for construction and industrial projects.
Using tools such as torches, welding machines, grinders and other specialized equipment to produce steel components.
Assist in the erection and installation of steel structural elements, ensuring that they are correctly positioned and securely fixed.

Interpretation of Drawings and Specifications:
Read and interpret technical drawings for steel processing and assembly, ensuring measurement accuracy and alignment.
Work on the basis of technical drawings, plans and other documentation to produce and install steel components according to the requirements of the project.
Use of measuring tools (e.g. spirit levels, tape measure, angles) to ensure precise installation and alignment of steel structures.

Quality Control and Inspection:
Inspect welded joints, bolted joints, and steel components for alignment, stress, and structural integrity.
Ensuring that work meets industry standards and design requirements for steel strength, durability and safety.
Verification of stability, safety and compliance of all steel structures and connections with technical requirements.

Compliance with safety rules:
Adhering to strict safety rules, including fall protection, use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and safe handling of heavy loads.
Operate lifting equipment such as cranes, hoists and rigging equipment safely, ensuring no risk of injury.
Maintain a safe working environment by following safety regulations when working at height, with heavy machinery and in other potentially hazardous conditions.

Troubleshooting and Customization:
Identify and solve problems related to alignment, alignment, or installation of steel components.
Make changes to the workplace to meet project requirements and ensure that steel structures are installed correctly, even in the face of unexpected challenges.

Collaboration and Communication:
Work closely with other professionals such as welders, fitters and construction teams to ensure smooth coordination and progress of work.

Working conditions:
Work in marine environments, including shipyards, offshore platforms, or vessels.
Work in confined spaces, at heights and sometimes in harsh weather or environmental conditions.
Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required, including helmets, gloves, safety footwear, eye and hearing protection.
Possible exposure to hazardous materials, heavy equipment and working at height.
Technical Proficiency in Working with Steel:
Ability to cut, shape, assemble and install steel beams, structures and frames in construction and industrial environments.
Knowledge of operating tools and equipment such as torches, welding machines, grinders, hoists, and lifting equipment.
Experience in assembling steel structures, welding, screwing and operating heavy machinery (e.g. cranes, scissor lifts).

Certificates:
Relevant certifications such as NCCER Ironworking or AWS welding certifications (if applicable).
Qualifications to work at height and operate heavy machinery (scissor lifts, cranes).
Safety certificates in fall protection, rigging or other building safety courses will be an advantage.

Experience:
2-5 years of experience working with steel, including manufacturing, assembling, and erecting steel structures in construction, industrial, or manufacturing environments.
Experience working on high-rise buildings, industrial structures or complex steel projects is preferred.

Ability to read and interpret technical drawings on steel, assembly plans and technical specifications.

A deep understanding of safety standards and practices, especially when working at height, fall protection, and the safe handling of heavy materials.
Experience in rigging, lifting and safe operation of lifting equipment.
Knowledge of PPE requirements and ability to maintain a safe working environment on the construction site.

The physical strength and stamina needed to lift, climb and work in changing weather conditions.
