EMPLOYMENT:

Full-time, Temporary

RESPONSIBILITIES:

MIG Welding (Method 131) Perform MIG welding using solid wire (Method 131) on aluminum, carbon steel, and stainless steel in all welding positions (horizontal, vertical, flat, and overhead). Set and adjust welding parameters such as voltage, amperage, and wire feed speed, depending on the material type, thickness, and design specifications.

Drawing and Specification Interpretation:

Read and interpret engineering drawings, welding symbols, and design specifications to understand welding requirements. Ensure that welds are made according to specifications, meeting dimensional, material, and quality standards.

Quality Control and Inspection:

Inspect completed welds for defects such as porosity, undercuts, and lack of fusion. Using measuring tools (calipers, gauges, etc.) to inspect welds and ensure they meet quality and dimensional requirements. Applying corrective techniques as needed to remove defects and ensure the durability and reliability of welds.

Compliance with Health and Safety Practices:

Following all MIG welding safety protocols and procedures, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and ventilation systems. Maintaining a safe work environment by adhering to safety regulations and identifying potential hazards.

Equipment Maintenance:

Performing routine maintenance of welding equipment to ensure its efficient operation. Diagnosing welding equipment problems and making minor repairs as needed.

Collaboration and Communication:

Working closely with supervisors and other welders to ensure projects are completed on time. Effectively communicating about project progress, potential issues, and necessary adjustments to welding processes.

Working Conditions:

Work in a marine environment with potential exposure to welding fumes, high temperatures, noise, and factors related to marine environmental protection. Full personal protective equipment (PPE) is required, including a welding helmet, gloves, safety footwear, and protective clothing. Work may require performing duties in various positions (standing, kneeling, overhead) and in confined spaces, particularly in marine environments.

Technical Skills:

Proven experience in MIG welding using solid wire (Method 131) on aluminum, carbon steel, and stainless steel. Ability to weld in all positions (horizontal, vertical, flat, overhead). Knowledge of setting and adjusting welding parameters (voltage, amperage, wire feed speed) depending on the material and thickness. Certifications: Valid welding certifications, such as ISO 9606-1, AWS D1.2 (for aluminum), or AWS D1.1 (for steel). Additional certifications may be required depending on the industry or materials used (e.g., automotive, aerospace). Proof of applicable social security legislation.

Experience:

2-5 years of practical MIG welding experience, particularly in a manufacturing, automotive, or light fabrication environment. Experience working with a variety of materials, including aluminum, carbon steel, and stainless steel.

Quality Control and Inspection:

Ability to inspect welds for defects such as porosity, undercuts, and lack of fusion. Knowledge of correction techniques and the ability to apply them to ensure high-quality welds.

Health and Safety Knowledge:

Good knowledge of MIG welding safety practices, including the use of personal protective equipment, safe handling of welding gases, and ensuring adequate ventilation. Ability to adhere to rigorous safety guidelines and maintain a safe work environment.

Meticulousness and Manual Dexterity:

Consistent and precise welding skills and the ability to adapt techniques to various materials and project requirements. Good physical condition and dexterity, allowing for prolonged welding in challenging positions.

Desired Qualities:

Problem-solving skills and the ability to diagnose welding problems. Ability to work independently and as part of a team to achieve production goals. Proactive approach to learning and improving welding techniques and processes.
